Low pO2 appeared to slow down the activation time course of the K current but deactivation kinetics seemed to be unaltered. Normal is 35-45 mm Hg. • HCO3-: This is bicarbonate, a chemical buffer made in the kidneys to neutralize acids. It is the metabolic component of the ABG. Normal is 22-28 mEq/L. • SaO2: This is a measure of the % of oxygen that is attached to hemoglobin in red blood cells. Normal is > 95% in healthy humans (avg is 98% for a healthy pt). In a non- MAP (Group1: MAP ≥ 65 mmHg; Group2: 50 < MAP ≤ 60 mmHg). Blood flow in SMA returned to normal at reperfusion. In addi- glucose levels, as regulated by glucose and insulin infusions with target tion, and Perioperative PCO2 steg, däremot minskade PO2 signifikant med nästan 2 kPa Considerations.
The median umbilical artery pCO2 was 50 mmHg and the 97.5th centile was 75 mmHg. The mean umbilical artery and vein SaO2 values were not significantly influenced by gestational age. Because the functional hemoglobin is nearly 100% saturated, we do expect a pO2 of near 100 mm Hg(figure 2). Indeed if the hemoglobin saturation is 98%, the predicted pO2 is 95 mm Hg. As a side note, in the absence of lung disease, hypoventilation or environmental hypoxia, the pO2 is also expected to be normal in cases of methemoglobinemia.

Normal laboratory values are reference ranges used by clinicians to interpret results of laboratory tests. In general, normal pathology values are readily available for healthy term infants.

PvO2 and SvO2 of mixed venous blood The median umbilical artery values were pH = 7.25, base excess = -4.3 mmol/L and pO2 = 16 mmHg. The 2.5th centiles were 7.08, -11.1 mmol/L and 5 mmHg, respectively. The median umbilical artery pCO2 was 50 mmHg and the 97.5th centile was 75 mmHg. The mean umbilical artery and vein SaO2 values were not significantly influenced by gestational age. O2 solubility in blood is very low, hence dissolved O2 content is very low at normal PO2 = 100 mm Hg. When the body is functioning normally, PaO2 is between 75 and 100 mmHg (at sea level). A result in this range means a sufficient amount of oxygen flowing from the alveoli to the blood. If your PaO2 is below the normal range, that is not the case.
Note: The “P” in PCO2 and PO2 stands for “partial pressure,” which is how these gases are measured. Normal arterial cord blood gases for a term newborn: pH: 7.18 – 7.38 PCO2: 32 – 66 (mmHg) HCO3-: 17 – 27 (mmol/L) PO2: 6 – 31 (mmHg) The mean change is 8.4 mmHg at 30 minutes, 9.6 at 60 minutes and 10.3 at 90 minutes when the initial pO 2 is approximately 100 mm Hg. The pO 2 of blood collected in glass syringes and stored on ice also increases, but to a much lesser extent.
